Our History
Hill Creek Farms has been a beloved family destination for years, shaped by the Sorbello family’s vision and dedication. As we transition to MCfarms, led by Mario Caltabiano, we honor Fred and the Sorbello family’s legacy and the farm’s rich history. While the experience is evolving, the heart of Hill Creek remains — and we look forward to continuing the tradition.

Hill Creek Farms has been a beloved family farm for four generations, with the Sorbello family growing fruit and vegetables since its founding. Today, the farm features orchards of apples, pears, plums, peaches, nectarines, and all sorts of vegetables, continuing the Sorbello legacy of dedication to agriculture.
Fred Sorbello, who began working on the farm at age 8, eventually inherited Hill Creek Farms at 23. However, seeking new challenges, he moved away from farming to build one of the largest food logistics companies in the world, with facilities across Europe, South America, Australia, the UK, and North America. His company became a leading handler of meat and fruit nationwide and one of the largest exporters of poultry in the USA.
Despite his success, Fred returned to his farming roots in 2006 to honor the legacy of his grandparents, who immigrated from Italy in the early 1920s. He wanted to show his grandchildren the origins of their family’s hard work. Now, Fred’s children run his logistics company, while he spends his time passing on his knowledge of farm life to his grandchildren and the Mullica Hill community.
Today, Hill Creek Farms continues to offer visitors an authentic, working farm experience. With the farm now transitioning to MCfarms under the leadership of Mario Caltabiano, the heart of Hill Creek remains the same — a place for families to experience the joy of U-Pick apples and farm life.
We’re excited to continue the tradition of farm life and look forward to welcoming you!
