2009 Grand Opening - September 15th
The 2009 growing season has been a challenging one. Last year's drought and inclement weather combined with a hail storm this summer to limit our harvest. As a result, we have fewer apples than we hoped, but they are of excellent quality. We open in mid-September when the Jonagolds will be ready to pick. Picking begins in September, but everyone is welcome to wander the orchard anytime.

Pick Your Own or Buy Those We've Picked For You
If you'd like to pick your own apples you may do so, taking home whatever you'd like for $1.29 per pound. We have different grades of apples that we've picked and the price for them ranges from 59¢ per pound to $1.69 per pound.

The farm will be open as follows:

Tuesday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Saturday and Sunday: 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Closed Mondays

Memberships
Many orchards open their fields to visitors who pick their own fruit. Inventing an entirely different approach, Hill Creek offers people the opportunity to "lease" three different trees - three varieties standing side-by-side - for a full year. The farm is open nearly every day so members may come and go often. (For more on when the farm is open, click the Calendar button at the top of this page.)

In spite of the challenges the orchard faced this Winter and Spring, there are apples in the field. And we invite you to enjoy the great outdoors, wander through the trees and get a sense of our wonderful orchard.

Leasing agreements are in place, too. Sets of three trees (one of each variety, growing side-by-side) are available for $175. Six trees are available for $300. Enjoyment and exclusive picking rights extend through December 31, 2009.

Please give us a call regarding discounts for schools and businesses. We do not sell to wholesalers.

A Good Deal
Note that leasing is not only an extra pleasure but is a real bargain. All the apples growing at the farm are premium varieties. They commonly sell for $2.49 a pound in markets and are sometimes more expensive. Since three trees will, on average, produce from 125 to 175 pounds of fruit leasing lets you buy locally and enjoy the outdoors - while saving money. Better still, our harvest is extended over two and one half months, with each variety lasting about three weeks. So your apples are fresh over a long period.
