Apples & the Internet.

Hill Creek Farm is a 17-acre, 4,500-tree apple orchard. The orchard includes three varieties of apples, growing in sets of three, side by side. These trees produce wonderful fruit that can be harvested from September to late October.

More Than Pick Your Own
Many orchards open their fields to visitors who pick their own fruit. Inventing an entirely different approach, Hill Creek offers people the opportunity to "lease" three different trees - three varieties standing side-by-side - for a full year. The farm is open nearly every day so members may come and go often. (For more on when the farm is open, click the Calendar button at the top of this page.)

People may picnic in the fields, learn about thinning their trees, pruning, fertilizer and pest control. Fred and his family will help members enjoy the property, relax in the barn and discover the pleasures of growing and harvesting locally-grown fruit.

The Trees
Hill Creek trees are grown on dwarfing rootstock. This means they produce full-size, wonderful fruit on threes that are about half their standard height. Grown since the 1950s, such apple trees can be cared for and picked without ladders. For more information on the trees, click The Orchard button at the top of this page.

The three varieties growing in the orchard were carefully chosen for their distinctive fruit and the timing of its harvest. The Jonagold De Coster trees are picked in early to mid-September. The Cameos bear fruit late September to mid-October. The third variety, Fuji, is picked late October to early November. Whether you have leased three trees for season-long picking or stop by for a bushel to take home, the harvest is a long one. There will be weeks of great fun picking apples with the whole family. Charter Memberships
The 2009 growing season has been a challenging one. Last year's drought and inclement weather combined with a hail storm this summer to limit our harvest. There are some wonderful apples in the orchard but you should call before visiting to check on conditions at the farm. Call (856) 223-0028. Picking begins in September, but everyone is welcome to wander the orchard anytime. Sets of three trees (one of each variety, growing side-by-side) are available for $175. Six trees are available for $300. Enjoyment and exclusive picking rights extend through December 31, 2009. For more on rates and membership, Membership button at the top of this page.
